Is Fecafoot Succession from Father to SON?

The dust is yet to settle following the victory of Seidou Mbombo Njoya as President of the Cameroon Football Federation, better known by its French acronym as FECAFOOT, as many Cameroonians have raised concerns over the conduct of the election.

Many Cameroonians have stated that the FECAFOOT presidency was simple handed down to Seidou Mbombo Njoya, whose father, Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya, had once been FECAFOOT President from 1960-1964.

                Proponents of this view think that the victory of Seidou Mbombo Njoya was a well calculated and planned victory by FECAFOOT Normalisation Committee, who had been managing the affairs of FECAFOOT before the elections.

Ivory Coast Sues CAF for Awarding AFCON 2021 to Cameroon

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has petitioned the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Lausanne, for the annulment of the decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to award the 2021 hosting rights of the African Football Cup of Nations (AFCON) to Cameroon even though it was previously awarded to her.

The decision to cease the highest instance of football arbitration in the world came following a meeting held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Abidjan by all stakeholders of the Ivorian football, a press release signed by the Executive Director of FIF, J-B Sam Etiasse, reads.

                According to Ivorian clubs, FIF officials and other stakeholders, the decision to award the hosting rights of 2021 AFCON to Ivory Coast was taken unanimously on September 20, 2014 in Addis Ababa by members of the CAF Executive Committee, but were surprised by the unilateral decision by CAF’s President, Ahmad Ahmad to turn around and hand the hosting rights of the same competition to Cameroon.

                Sam Etiasse said preparations and other works in relation to the 2021 competition are going on well and involves enormous material and financial investment and any modification of dates would entail enormous material, financial and human consequences.

The State of Cameroon has finally slammed charges on the leaders of the Ambazonia, who ten months ago were arrested in Nigeria and extradited to Cameroon and are presently being detained at the Kondengui Maximum Security Prison in Yaounde.

                The charges were leveled against the Ambazonia Leaders Tuesday, 27 November, by the Yaoundé Military Tribunal, 10 full months after the leaders were arrested and held in captivity.

                Among the charges brought against Sisiku Julius Ayuk Tabe and nine others are terrorism, apology to terrorism, secession, inciting violence, disrespect for the constitution, propagation of false information, non-possession of Identity cards etc etc.

                They were hurriedly brought before the Magistrate at the Yaoundé Military Court without the knowledge of their lawyers, sources close to the matter reveal. However, the Lawyers hurriedly sent a team which represented the 10 persons.

Arrest Warrants for Diaspora Separatists

The activities of separatists, especially those in the Diaspora, have not left the government of Cameroon indifferent. Recently the government issued international warrants of arrests against many separatists in the Diaspora. It accused them of working laboriously to divide the country and/or throw it in flames.

                Some of the separatists concerned by the arrest warrants include Cho Ayaba (Norway), Marc Bareta (Belgium), Tapang Ivo (USA), Chris Anu (South Africa), Boh Herbert (USA), Eric Tataw (USA), Mofako Stephen (Italy), Sako (USA), Akamangwa Joseph Akongwe (Italy), John Mbah Akuro (USA), Nsuh Lavert Nchitu (UK) among others.

                Most of these “fugitives” have since taken refuge in their host countries; they are said to be the front-runners of the Southern Cameroons independence struggle in these countries. Here they organize rallies during which they tarnish the name of Cameroon and its President They hoist a strange flag which they project as that of a new country that they have named “Ambazonia”.

The ongoing struggle for the restoration of the independence of the former Southern Cameroons has been mired in an ugly play of words between and among some protagonists in the struggle. Some latter day leaders of the struggle based in the Diaspora, have been trading insults and accusing one another of embezzling funds collected for the purpose of sponsoring the struggle back in the country.

                The protagonists of these rather self-destruct and ugly altercations are none other than the so-called internet generals of the struggle including notably Eric Tataw Teno, Marc Bareta, Tapang Ivo, Cho Ayaba among others.

                The quarrels take the garb of ping-pong verbal duels, with the one accusing the other of siphoning monies collected, while the other fires back, swearing brimstone against the other for tarnishing his name and reputation.

SW Governor Beckons Amba Boys to Drop their weapons & Return Home

SW Gov. Okalia Bilai distributing relief aid to IDPs in Tiko

The Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai has called on separatists in the bushes to drop their weapons and return to their families as their security is guaranteed. The governor called on the elites, church leaders and chiefs to echo the appeal to the youths.

                He was speaking in Buea recently as he chaired a meeting between the administration and stakeholders in the coordination and management of humanitarian assistance to IDPs.

                “Reports have shown that a good number of displaced persons have benefited the humanitarian assistance. However, we are aware that what has been provided cannot satisfy all the needs of the recipients. I call on you to demonstrate the good spirit of the head of state’s call for the youths to drop their weapons and come back to their families,” Okalia Bilai said to participants at the meeting, who included SDO, DO, Mayors, representatives of UN relief agencies, church leaders, chiefs etc.

                He added: “Let us give ourselves a target between now and the end of 2018 so that our children can spend Christmas and New Year with their families, and so that our traditional rulers and chiefs can return to their palaces. We should use this period to campaign for the return of peace, security and joy throughout our region. “
