Gov't delegate, Victor Nkele Ngoh |
Speaking at the session, Nkele Ngoh said during this end of year session the grand councilors were expected to analyze the progress of revenue collection, deliberate on new rates for park fees and the acquisition of a FCFA 400 million FEICOM loan for the construction of commercial stalls at the Buea road park. He said earlier, during the mid-term session in July 2014 the councilors adopted a supplementary budget for the council.
But the delegate observed that a close look at the way some of the councilors were functioning leaves him with the impression that they are not serving the interest of the Kumba City, but only their respective sub divisional councils, and this to the detriment of Kumba’s development. Nkele Ngoh wondered aloud why some senior councilors should think that their recommendations during council sessions must have the force of deliberations that must be accepted and executed?
He regretted further that the actions of some of the grand councilors only stifle development projects in the City Council. He appealed to the grand councilors to keep aside party ideology and put the interest of Kumba at the fore.
“Let us avoid any differences that we may have and which could be interpreted wrongly by the population; lets keep aside our divergent political ideologies and work together for the develpoment of Kumba,’’ Nkele Ngoh said, praying the SDF grand councilors to collaborate with him if only to bring development to Kumba.
The government delegate’s frank remarks appeared to have infuriated the SDF grand councilors, some of whom boycotted the dinner he offered at the end of the session. The session was supervised by meme SDO Koulbout Aman David.
