SW Governor declares state of emergency
- A dusk to dawn curfew is one among many measures prescribed by the Governor to pre-empt any surprise Boko Haram attack

Officials of the South West Region have tightened security measures in the region in the wake of recent kamikaze attacks of Boko Haram insurgents in the Far North Region of the country. After a meeting in Buea that brought together all security stakeholders in the region, the Governor of the South West Region, Okalia Bilai issued a release prescribing measures that must be respected by all with a view to keep Boko Haram and other security threats at bay.

    According to the release all Motor Parks and travel agencies will have entry points where passengers and persons entering and leaving motor parks must be checked; all transport in and out of Cameroon on land and at sea is prohibited after 6pm; all illegal immigrants should be sent back at the ports of entry;  all public events, meetings and ceremonies be declared; Churches that constitute a nuisance and carry out night activities will be closed; a census of all commercial bike riders will be done with all riders expected to stop riding between 9pm and 6am; all vehicles abandoned on the roadside will be impounded; all travel agencies will stop activities as from 9pm, while all drinking spots and bars will also remain closed as from 9pm, among others.
    While officers in charge of law enforcement will carry out serious control at check points, municipal authorities and political leaders will help in sensitizing the public.
    The officials have in the same vein challenged all inhabitants of the South West Region to cooperate with the forces of law and order to secure the entire region from the hands of any terrorists and any suspects whose objective is to jeopardize the peace.
