New SW ELECAM boss commissioned

The Director General of Elections at Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) Dr. Abdoulaye Babale has enjoined the South West Regional delegate of Elections Cameroon, Mr. Oka Bao Oka, to work in close collaboration with elections stakeholders in order to meet up with the challenges that await him. The Director General made the call recently in Buea while installing the regional delegate of Elections Cameroon.
    The installation ceremony was done in compliance with the rules and regulations governing Elections Cameroon, which provide among other provisions that; the Director General of Elections is entitled to install each the regional delegates following their appointment by the electoral board. Mr. Oka Bao Oka was appointed ELECAM regional delegate for the South West Region, by a decision of the electoral board of Elecam in its resolution No. 0159/ELECAM/CE, adopted on July 9, 2014.

    In his installation discourse, the Director General of elections at Elections Cameroon re-echoed the duties of the newly installed South West ELECAM boss; some of them being: the organisation, supervision and the follow-up of electoral operations and referendums; the follow-up of voters registration, the establishment of voters cards, the supervision of the distribution of voters cards, the distribution of elections material within the region, the centralisation and forwarding of election results to the Directorate General of elections, the supervision of the constitution of a biometric regional register of voters, the maintenance of the IT network, the management of regional personnel and the management of operating budget of the delegation among others.  
    Mr. Abdoulaye Babale similarly explained to the newly installed South West Regional ELECAM boss that he can only succeed in the performance of these duties should he build around him a strong and faithful team of collaborators and likewise assume a true leadership role that will in turn enable him earn, deserve the confidence and trust of the personnel under his responsibility.  According to the Director General, the newly installed is also expected among others to strengthen discipline at the regional level, divisional head structures, and the council level. Through discipline, the D. G insisted, can we always arrive at fair and transparent elections.
    Before his appointment Mr. Oka Bao was the Service Head in-charge of electoral operations and referendums at the South West ELECAM office.
    Present at the installation ceremony was; the Secretary General at the South West Governor’s office, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, the President of the South West Court of Appeal, Attorney Generals of the South West, the 3rd Deputy Mayor of the Buea Council, the Divisional Officer of Buea, members of the electoral board and sundry other dignitaries.
