Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh |
A Bamenda
based Association known as Environment and Cultural Heritage Protectors and
Custodians has presented a gift to Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh, Promoter and CEO
of the Fomunyoh Foundation. The gift was
handed over in a ceremony at the headquarters of the Fomunyoh foundation in
Mankon, Bamenda, recently.
The head of the association
Ndofor Mathias Achiriforb said they had two objectives in mind when they
decided to give Fomunyoh the gift. He said they wanted to appreciate Fomunyoh
for his good works around the globe and also urge him to map out marketing
strategies for the association's art works.
Receiving the gift, Dr.
Christopher Fomunyoh promised to do his best to market the products of the
association both nationally and internationally.
"We will create avenues to
exhibit your gift so that in our own way we can tell the story to the
world," he said.
Underscoring
the importance of such associations towards preserving our common heritage,
Fomunyoh said: "As citizens of the world we should be one another’s keeper.”
Answering questions from
journalists about the socioeconomic and political state of the country,
DrFomunyoh disclosed that he was invited to Yaounde recently by Cameroon
Association of political journalists to give a talk but the meeting was banned by
government.
"To my greatest dismay, we
were informed a few hours to the meeting that it has been banned by the DO,”
Fomunyoh regretted.
He noted that the same
association of political journalists had invited people like Chairman John
FruNdi, Maurice Kamto and others.
"So I don't see why in my
case the DO had to issue a ban,” he wondered, noting that he has worked to
promote democracy in Africa for many years and will continue to sustain,
support and advocate for freedom, good governance, human rights, accountability
and other values that move alongside Democracy.
