The
Government Delegate to the Kumba City Council, NgohNkelle Victor has used the
Kumba City Council inter quarter football competition to campaign for effective
resumption classes in the entire division for the 2017/2018 academic year.
NgohNkelle Victor was speaking
on Sunday September 3 at the Government Practicing School field during the
closing ceremony of the 2017 Edition of the Kumba City Council Inter quarter
football competition aimed at campaigning for school resumption in Meme
Division in general and Kumba in particular.
"The caption or theme of this
inter quarter football was to sensitize children to go back to school. I just
hope and pray the message of school resumption which the city council has
preached for over one month during this competition has been passed across and
i pray the parents do allow their children the opportunity to be educated by
sending them to school" NgohNkelle pleaded while adding that
"education is their inalienable right and it will be an unforgiveable
crime and mistake for parents to jeopardise the future of the children by
denying them the right to go to school.
NgohNkelle explained that there
would have been no better way for the city council to preach the message of
effective school resumption if not through football. "Whenever there is
football we in Kumba we find the youths coming out in their numbers and it has
always been a crowd pulling aspect in Kumba" Ngoh revealed.
NgohNkelle Victor who has been
mute since the outburst of the Anglophone crisis that rendered classes
ineffective in the Northwest and Southwest regions except for his onetime peace
march that he organised at the behest of the powers that be wasted no time to
convert the football competition into a schools resumption campaign.
The soft spoken NgohNkelle it
should be noted has been applauded in his moves towards campaigning to fight
the ghost towns which has marred the business activities in the two English
speaking regions of the country. Unlike his colleague of the northwest region
who has forcefully closed markets and shops in Bamenda, NgohNkelle is noted for
his belief in the power of dialogue as he has countlessly invited traders to
discuss the effects of respecting ghost towns could be in their businesses.
The Kumba city council Football
competition rounded off with Ngamalikum FC defeating Lawyer Enow Street FC by 5
goals to 4 during post match penalties. The crowd pulling finals saw the end of
the one month competition that was played by 20 teams and witnessed prizes been
awarded by the government delegate to sundry participating teams and officials.
