2020 Twin Elections:

ELECAM Personnel Schooled on Credibility

Elecam builds capacity of its personnel ahead of elections
Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) in collaboration with members of the Central Africa Economic Committee, (ECAS) have organized a training workshop to build the capacities of their central and regional collaborators on practical modalities to uphold credibility during the upcoming 9 February 2020 twin Municipal and Legislative elections.
    The three day workshop at the Hotel La Falaise in Yaounde was opened Wednesday 8 January 2020 by the Director General of Elections, Dr. Erik Essouse. He said at the end of the workshop, the trainees will be better apt in working with the electoral list and have a better management of polling stations adding that the United Nations and the African Union are working with the election watchdog to ensure the required knowledge is transferred to the ELECAM personnel to organize a hitch free elections.

    The workshop will school and upgrade ELECAM personnel on international standards of organising elections of such magnitude in respect of the Electoral Code of the country. Dr. Esusse also said the elections watchdog will need to recruit volunteers in order to reinforce their working capacity.
    The representative of the Secretary General of the Economic Community of Central Africa, ECCAS, Bordo Amouli, reminded the trainees that a successful election stems from good organization and guarantees peace and security in the sub-region.
