Cameroon 1-1 Bafana Bafana

Lions continue unbeaten run
By a correspondent in Libreville

Vincent Aboubakar scored for Cameroon in the early minutes of the game from a spot-kick but Bafana Bafana’s Sibusiso Vilakazi netted the equalizer as Cameroon were held to another draw in their second AFCON warm-up match played at the Libreville Stadium in Gabon .
The Lions dominated the first half of the game with the FC Porto striker’s stunning free-kick from the edge of the area giving Cameroon the lead after just 7 minutes of play.
However, the second half of the game saw the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on the front foot applying some pace in their game to outsmart the lions. This made the Lions who looked heavy and tired to succumbed to the Bafana Bafana pressure with second-half substitute Sibusiso Vilakazi in the 76th minute using his pace to beat a couple of Cameroon defenders before finishing with composure.

The encounter provided Finke the opportunity to continue testing his team as he setup another starting 11 different from that against DR Congo in Yaounde. It also afforded Cameroon and South Africa the opportunity to keep the momentum going ahead of the 2015 AFCON in Guinea-Equator.
Although many pundits hold that youthfulness and lack of experience is the Achilles’ heel of the “born again” lions, they seem to be proving the doubting Thomases wrong. Since returning from the shameful World Cup in Brazil, Lions have played 8 matches recording four wins and 4 draws making them a formidable force.
Cameroon will play her last friendly on January 14 in Gabon against FC Mounana, a Gabonese premier league side if only to boost their confidence.
The training camp in Gabon ends on January 16 and the Lions will travel to Malabo-Equatorial Guinea on the same day to start their quest for a firth AFCON title when they confront Mali on January 20.
