Agro-Pastoral technicians urged to bring dev’t

Some 105 Senior Technicians who graduated from the Community Development and Specialization Training School(CDSTS) and Rural Equipment Development and Specialization Training School?(REDSTS) have been urged to put into practice the knowledge and skills they have acquired during the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 academic year training programmes in order to effectively contributes to the durable rural and agricultural development in Cameroon.
    The call was made by the 2nd Assistant S.D.O Nelson Yongkuma during the graduation ceremony of the two training schools which took place recently in Kumba at the school premises. He noted that Agriculture contributes a lot to the economic development of the Nation and as such paid homage to all those who provided much needed support to the graduating students while they were on internship. He encouraged the graduates for their relentless efforts they have been making inspite of the difficulties they faced.
    He observed that with the new economic impetus, the government will be able to do more on the agricultural domain and some if not all the problems raised by the directors and students will be looked into and adequate solutions made.

    He reminded the graduates that certificates do not make individuals but rather you can use your certificate to portray what you can do to the society. He noted that the knowledge and skills that they have acquired should be effectively put in to use in the nearest future for their personal growth, their families and of Cameroon at large that has fought for the Second Generation Agriculture which is the principal weapon of the Government of the Republic of Cameroon through is policy of greater realization prescribed by the Head of State H.E President Paul Biya.
      Speaking earlier in her welcome address, the Director of REDSTS said her school was graduating the 2nd batch of Senior Technicians who were 56 in numbers. She noted that the graduating students came in through a competitive examination organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
  Taking the queue the Director of Community Development and Specialization Training School (CDSTS) Nkwatio Emmanuel noted that Agricultural education and training remains the driving force for food production in the Country and it also helps to reduce unemployment amongst youths. He reminded the graduating students that their code of ethics in all their endeavors be self esteem,  opportunity, honesty and devotion to service. He reminded them that as professionals, they do not know unemployment. The director noted that out of the six best nation wide in Agro-Pastoral Counsellor,four came from CDSTS in Kumba and that in the national classification Kumba occupied the first position and in MINADER Exams they scored 100 percent.
    Despite these successes, the director noted that there exist some problems which limited the school from functioning at an optimum level, such as no means of transport for trainees and the school administration, lack of library, the absence of fence round the school, insufficient farm land to carry out practicals, constant power cut and indiscipline since they a discipline master since 2007.
    The director equally noted that during the academic year, they have also improved on their relationships with organizations like C.D.C, IRAD EKONA, SOWEDA and Mukete Plantations Limited etc.
    The director also used the graduation ceremony to thank the staff for their commitment and assiduity at work.
