After just six days of play into the League
2 football season, PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda has fired their coach,
Roger Fotso.
Fotso
was fired on February 28. The decision was announced in a press release
published by Pierre Anoufack, team press officer, and signed by the President
Pascal Abunde.
Roger
Fotso was sacked because of “a series of poor results he has had with the team
so far. PWD has had only 8 points in 6 games and there are little hopes for the
team competing for the league’s top positions.
The
Abakwa Boys, as PWD are fondly referred to, currently occupy the seventh
position after recording five draws and one victory in six games. The
sledgehammer fell on Fotso after the team’s latest draw in their derby against
National Polytechnic Bamenda, NPB FC.
In
their six matches in the league so far, the team have conceded three goals and
scored five. They recorded two goalless draws and are one of the two unbeaten
teams in the league this far.
PWD
are currently four points shy of Fovu of Baham, who are also unbeaten and
occupy the first position. The club is yet to announce a replacement for Fotso,
who helped qualify the team for the Professional League after more than a
decade in the Regional League.
On
their part, National Polytechnic of Bambui and Dynamic of Buea have been
limping since the beginning of the championship. They have each recorded just a
single victory in their six games played.
Njalla
Quan Sports Academy Continue Sinking
Since relegated
to League 2 last year, the Limbe-based club of late Henry Njalla Quan is yet to
find a winning formula. After six days of play, the club has registered a
whopping five losses with a resounding 5-1 humiliation last Sunday against AS
Etoa Meki. NQSA has recorded just a single point against Tonnerre of Yaoundé
during day two of play.
According
to reports, the club is believed to have turned its attention to its academy,
thereby using only players in its football academy.
If
things continue the way they are, the team is bound to continue its journey to
the Regional League.
