Some 25 cricket players and officials drawn from the Cameroon Cricket Domestic League have completed a three-day training course in Umpiring and Scoring, at the headquarters of the Cameroon cricket Federation, FECACRICKET, in Yaounde.
Organized by the Cameroon Cricket Federation, the training was aimed to build the capacities of Cameroon cricket players and officials on the rules and principles of Umpiring and Scoring, a Fecacricket release said.
Facilitators and resource persons at the training were Cameroonians who had benefitted training at the International Cricket Council and by trainers from the British NGO, Cricket Without Boundaries.
“What we are having here is a recycling course for cricket players and officials. We want both players and officials to have an understanding of how to umpire and register scoring,” explained Victor Agbor-Nso, President of the Cameroon Cricket Federation.

He added: “Even though we are a young Federation, we want to do things the way they are done internationally. We want our domestic league to have good umpires and scorers this, so as to render the game more serious and interesting here.”
The Fecacricket boss noted that the training falls within the framework of the federation’s ambition to not only develop Cricket here but to also elevate Cameroonian cricket referees and umpires to international standards.
