Who is Biya’s best dressed Minister?

Organizers of the annual red carpet ceremony for film makers dubbed Red Feather Awards have announced that the 2017 edition of the event to be showcased at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel, on 8 December, will apart from other prizes, recognize the best dressed government minister in Cameroon and also elect the Miss Red Feather.

The best dressed Cameroonian government minister would be identified and presented to the public during the 2017 edition of the Red Feather Awards to be staged at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel, on 8 January 2017.
Placed under the high patronage of the Head of State, President Paul Biya, this second edition of the Red Feather Awards will also elect the Miss Red Feather 2017. It will as well recognize musicians, designers and TV presenters, apart from outstanding film makers.
Announcing the event during a press conference at the Muna Foundation in Yaounde recently, Cameroon’s emblematic film actor and promoter of the Red Feather Awards, Vitalis Otia, said the Awards seek to promote excellence in the domain of culture and entertainment.
Vitalis recalled that the first edition of the Red Feather Awards organized at the Yaounde Hilton on 14 December 2016, celebrated only film makers and rewarded excellence in the various disciplines of filmmaking ranging from actors, producers, directors, editors and directors of photography. But he said that after the success that crowned the first edition, and after listening to suggestions from the public, the team of organizers thought it opportune to broaden the range of cultural and entertainment domains to be promoted.
“During this 2nd edition of the Red Feather Awards, government ministers, Journalists and TV presenters etc who stand out in African attire will be awarded the Red Feather,” said Vitalis, noting that the innovation is aimed to ensure that the African cultural heritage is not only showcased but also given top priority.”

Vitalis also observed that “Westernization is slowly eroding the rich African culture, and it will be improper if the organizers remained indifferent to this and not take positive action to remedy the situation.”
Reason why this 2017 edition of the Red Feather Awards will be guided by the theme: “Celebrating our own” and has been expanded to also present special awards for the Best Minister in African Wear (Male and Female), Best Designers of African Wear (Male and Female) and will witness the election of the Miss Red Feather, who will henceforth play the role of mascot of the annual red carpet event.
Recalling the 2016 edition, Vitalis said “it brought alive a long created dream to distinguish the best actors in the film industry.” He noted that fifteen trophies were awarded to the best in different domains of cinema, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Costume Design, Best Original Screen play, Best Director, Best Editor, Best Mother Tongue Film among other awards.
Not oblivious of the challenges inherent in organizing such events, the organizers are counting on the support of the wider public if they must showcase “a memorable and interesting ceremony to both participants and award winners”.
