CPDM Scribe Jean Kuete welcomed at Santa, Bamenda |
Militants, sympathizers and supporters of the CPDM turned
out in their numbers at the Bamenda Congress Hall to welcome Jean Nkuete,
President of the National Campaign Supervision Commission for candidate Paul
Biya.
They
defied threats from pro independence fighters and in song and dance hailed CPDM
candidate Paul Biya while promising him their votes come Sunday October 7.
Jean
Nkuete was in Bamenda to give a booster to the CPDM campaigns in the region.
Campaigns in the region were launched on September 22, 2018 by the Chair of the
Regional Campaign Coordination Commission for the North West, Philemon Yang and
since then, the party’s bigwigs have been in the field using all strategies to
woo voters.
At
Matazen, gateway into the region,
militants from Mezam IA, Mezam II
and the Mezam Divisional Campaign Coordination Commission, led by its Head, Minister Felix Mbayu welcomed the scribe of
the party. The population handed a peace
plant to the Secretary General of the Central Committee, a demonstration of
their comment to preserving peace in region.
While
addressing the hundreds of militants who had turned out at the Bamenda Congress
Hall, Jean Nkuete, congratulated the population for their resilience in the
midst of the ongoing crises which he said had been forced on them by the so
called “liberators of Anglophones”.
He
mockingly regretted that other candidates have avoided and abandoned the people
of the North West in times of difficulties and have preferred only media
outings and less tense areas. Few days
to the end of campaign, a candidate of the opposition is yet to visit the
region.
Earlier,
the Chair of the Regional Campaign Coordination Commission for the North West,
Philemon Yang updated the Secretary General on the efforts of the militants in
canvassing for votes for candidate Paul Biya.
He praised the Central Committee for choosing the
door-to-door and mouth-to-ear method of campaign which he said is perfect for
the present socio political tension in the region. He promised a landslide victory for President
Paul Biya in the North West come October 7th.
The
Honorary President of the National Bureau of the women’s wing Mrs Chantal Biya
who had sent warm greetings to the population of the North West Region, through
the SG was offered a gift. Militants of
Mezam IB gave her a painting of her portrait when she was made UNESCO goodwill
ambassador.
Most of
the militants regretted that their friend militants could not attend the event
because they are in the drag net of the secessionists, a preoccupying situation
in the region. They however remain upbeat that candidate Paul Biya will restore
peace in the two Anglophone regions.
Reactions
"Biya Will Get the Votes"
Shey Jones Yembe, President of the Donga-Matung Campaign
Team.
We have been doing great work in the field. We will get
votes maybe not as in the past because of the difficult situation in the
region. Although Donga Mantung is in peace, there has been an exodus of the
population, out of fear. We appreciate
the strategy the Party picked for this election. Before now we have been empowering party
structures and using them for the door-to-door and the mouth-to-ear is working
perfectly in our division. We have noticed that the CPDM is the only party
camapiging in the region, the SDF is one
of the main parties in the region but they have abandoned the chickend out in times of difficulty. You have to be
with the population at all times and this is what we are always doing
especially in these tough times.
“Opposition Candidates are Dreamers"_
Ngala Gerard, Section President Donga Mantung I
The Secretary General has come to assure all of us that
there is an upcoming election for which we should exercise our civic rights as
militants of the CPDM by making sure that we vote our Candidate President Biya.
Some pposition parties who were supporting an illusion yesterday, cannot come
to campaign freely today. You cannot
support what can never be and now you are afraid of your own creation. We, of
the CPDM have been for peace and stand for peace. We are going about our door
to door campaign in readiness to vote our candidate come October 7 and our
militants are very much aware.
"We cannot betray our champion"
Uphie Melo Chinje, President, Ngoketunjia Campaign
Coordination
We had an evaluation meeting after the visit of the
Secretary General to the region. Although the armed separatists have gorged
, blocked and cut off some roads, executives from the division used bikes to
reach Bamenda. It shows their commitment
and determination. Youths were among
them. They are enthusiastic to vote for our candidate. We have four polling
stations in the division but there are localities far off from these centres.
Therefore, we have made arrangements on how we will transport our militants to
vote. Due to the difficult situation, we
have not seen any other party in the field campaigning. We took a commitment
and cannot betray our champion, President Paul Biya. We are bent on ensuring the victory of our
candidate on October 7th.
