Much lobbying, night meetings in popular hotels in Kumba is said to be the order of the day. Money is also said to be exchanging hands on a daily basis to lure electors from one camp too the other.

The election to hold under the watchful eyes of Southwest Governor, Okalia Bilai is expected unfold Tuesday 3 March 2020 at the Kumba City Council hall. Delegates to the polls will be Municipal Councilors drawn from the Kumba I, II and III councils including the three Mayors and their deputies.
Ngoh Nkelle Victor who has been at the helm of the city council is said to be doing all it takes to emerge winner. His chances we gathered might be slim because he has been blamed for plunging Kumba into underdevelopment for his 11 years at the council (he was appointed in February 2009).

His opponent, Mewanu Gregory is said to be putting up a strong fight to see into it that Ngoh doesn’t defeat him. Mewanu is said to have the backing of some political heavyweights in the Division. The young businessman has produced to revamp development projects in Kumba if given the opportunity.
Meanwhile, Sako Macmillan, CPDM Meme IB Section president is said to be vying for the post of first deputy city Mayor. Reports say he beat Barrister Andrew Tabi during an in-house election that was conducted Thursday by 16 votes against four with five absence recorded.
The scenario is the same in Kumba as the battle for who to occupy the second deputy position is hot getting tougher between former Kumba III Mayor, Barrister Ndeme Taken and Mrs. Ebanja, wife of the Chief of Mukonje village.
The three councils would have to produce each candidate for the three positions. Kumba I council will produce the City Mayor, Kumba II to bring in the first deputy and Kumba III to propose the second deputy.
