The minimum package program is a policy of the government in which basic school needs of government institutions are provided through local councils. The minimum package is meant essentially for primary and nursery schools.
The Mayor of Tiko Moukondo Daniel chose the second week of the reopening of schools to hand the package to Basic Education officials for onward distribution to the 31 schools shortlisted for this academic year.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony, the D.O of Tiko Che Patrick Ngwashi lauded the mayor for making available the minimum package on time, saying this will help improve performance of schools in Tiko. The Do hailed the teachers and pupils of schools in Tiko for the wonderful results at the last FSLC examination, with an overall score of 99%.
The DO urged teachers to be present and effective at school so that the results this year can climb to 100%. But he also called on parents to provide the basic school needs of their children especially text books since the learning process requires contributions from both teachers and parents back at home.
On her part, the Inspector of Basic education for Tiko, Nanga Elizabeth happily unveiled the contents of the minimum package. It included materials for head teachers, didactic materials for teachers, sports materials, and other basic needs for school children.
Talking to the press, the Mayor revealed that 5.5 million fcfa were consumed by the project this year. The minimum package takes into consideration the funds provided by government and the needs of the various schools shortlisted.
It should be noted that because the minimum package concerns only government schools, council authorities have decided to allocate for private and mission schools in some community projects, this so that no body should feel left out. The D.O. Che Ngwashi Patrick has applauded the mayor for this and urged him to continue with such projects depending on the financial means available to the council.
