Cameroon cycling federation president dies ahead of Chantal Biya cycling tour
The president of the Cameroonian cycling federation Moustapha Dogo died on Wednesday October 7, after he had a malaise and slumped to the ground while he was busy working in his office at the federation headquarters in Yaounde.
Dogo was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but he passed away even before doctors could diagnosis his condition. Moustapha Dogo’s death occurred at a time when he was actively preparing for the organization of the International Cycling Grand Prix’ dubbed Chantal Biya cycling tour named after Cameroon’s First Lady. The competition was scheduled to kick-off on 15 October 2014.
Speculations are rife that Moustapha Dogo was “eliminated” by his adversaries. He was elected president of the Cycling Federation in 2013, against a backdrop of internal dissentions, and amid a strong resistance from his predecessor, François Njele, who was resolute to make his life miserable.
