Fake soldier arrested in Kumba

A fake soldier claiming to be the nephew of retired General James, Tataw  is currently being detained for interrogation at the Kumba central police station  for attempting to dupe pastor Uboh Rene of Paradise Baptist church  Fiango in Kumba II sub-division. The Fake soldier whose names this reporter could not obtain before press time visited the  paradise Baptist church  on Saturday 13 October 2014 and in a chat with the senior Pastor of that  church Uboh Rene said he is the nephew of general James s Tataw and that his palms are hollow given that money never stays in his hands.
      The man in military uniform, further told the pastor that he had come to see him on the advice of the Kumba gendarme commander and that apart from being a soldier, he also facilitates the recruitment of soldiers, gendarmes, police, customs and other allied forces.

    The fake nephew of General Tataw who also claimed that his father is currently serving as a colonel in the Cameroon army and the mother in the United States, added that he had also came for deliverance. Pastor Uboh Rene later preached and prayed for him. After the prayer, the soldier according to Pastor Uboh, said he has a problem with the BICEC bank and that because of this, he could not effect any withdrawal and that he needs 35000 FRS to settle the bills of some of his workers in Buea.
    Pastor Uboh went ahead and gave him 40.000 FRS. The pastor later told this reporter that after this gesture he prayed and God revealed to him that the soldier was an impostor.
    On Monday 14th, the fake soldier again visited pastor Uboh Rene, this time saying his mother in the USA is elated with his deliverance and would want to send pastor Uboh some money as gratification and that she needed the bank account No. of the pastor in order to facilitate this financial transaction. The fake soldier asked the pastor to provide him with the names of four of his Christians who would want to be recruited into the military and that for this to be successfully affected he needs the nominal charge of 100.000 FRS, 25000 FRS per person. Pastor Uboh did not decline this offer as he went on to ask the fake soldier to come on Wednesday with the list of relevant documents to be compiled and to receive the money.
    Meantime Pastor Uboh Rene contacted the police and narrated the incident. On Wednesday 15th October as the fake soldier came to collect the 100.000 FRS, the element of the special police intervention force (ESIR) who were waiting around arrested and took him to the police station where he is currently being interrogated.
