SCNC activists to take oath of allegiance

By Johnson Mbu in Kumba
With the restoration of the Statehood of Southern Cameroons allegedly delayed due to betrayal and or bribery by elements of the Yaounde regime and its supporters, henceforth activists of the movement would be admitted only after taking an oath of loyalty and allegiance to the internal rules of the movement.
The decision was the outcome of an SCNC meeting that took place in Kumba on Saturday 25 April 2015.   The gathering that brought together SCNC activists from all over the Southwest Region, also resolved in future to send some SCNC activists to Nigeria.
The nature of the oath and the mission to Nigeria and the composition of that delegation to Nigeria will be discussed in a subsequent meeting, The Median was told.

A clergy who attended the Saturday meeting later told The Median that the issue of oath taking was the prime reason for the Saturday meeting given that the restoration of the Statehood of Southern Cameroons has been compromised by betrayal, due to bribery by la Republique and its Southern Cameroon agents.
He intimated that the nature of the oath has not been defined and that every Southern Cameroonian who accepts to take the oath should be ready to shed his blood for the cause or suffer imprisonment.
As to sending some SCNC activists to Nigeria, the clergy declined to explain the reason or purpose, the composition of the delegation or to give the time frame when this delegation will be effected.  The meeting also formed a finance committee charged with the duty of contacting persons interested in the Southern Cameroons struggle for financial assistance.
Other SCNC activists who attended that meeting strongly believed that the SCNC struggle will receive national and international attention only if activists of that movement take an oath of silence and allegiance, pointing out that the Italian Mafia and other groups fighting a common cause survive due to the rule of "Omerta".  Omerta, a Latin word for silence is the sicilian mafia rule of conduct which states that even if a member of the mafia is arrested or captured by the government he should be ready to sacrifice his life other than release the secrets or operating rules of the organization.
Meantime another meeting of SCNC activists to elaborate and expand on the oath and the Nigerian trip has been arranged before the end of May.
