The regional delegate of Basic education for the South West Region says they are combat ready for the 2015 examinations organized by the Ministry of Basic e-Education. He made the revelation during a 1-day sector conference on the organization and conduct of 2015 examinations at the conference hall of the regional delegation of basic education on Friday May 7, 2015.
While speaking to the members of the basic education family, the regional delegate recounted that the organization and conduct of the 2014 examinations were successful and hitch free. He added that ‘answered scripts from far off inspectorates arrived marking centers on time and facilitated the publication of results on time and above all, a marked increase in pupils performance in all the examinations which was registered’. Hear him: “We are out to uphold the excellent output of last year and perform even better this year.”
While stating their level of preparedness for the 2015 examinations, the delegate said pupils nationwide will take the Common Entrance Examination this May while the First School Living Certificate (FSLC) will be taken in June.
On account of finance, the regional boss said no case of misappropriation of examination funds have been noted so far, even as the number of candidates registered has witnessed a 7.3% increase.
According to official registration figures disclosed, 27,501 candidates registered for FSLC, 875 for CEP and 24570, for Common Entrance giving a total of 52,946 candidates as against 49,344 for the previous year. The release of the 2015, Final FSLC candidate lists and various evaluation forms were applauded to have been produced on time.
During the conference, participants were drilled on the guidelines and reforms on the organization and conduct of 2015 examinations. While delivering the presentations, the regional delegate said the initiative is necessary to it will go a long way refresh the stakeholders knowledge on examination calendar and guidelines on supervision and invigilation of examinations as well as changes on the conduct and organization of first school living certificate and Common entrains examination examinations.
The conference was attended by the Coordinating Inspector, Sub Directors Divisional Delegates, Regional Pedagogic Inspectors, Chiefs of Services and Inspectors of Basic Education.
