Speaking at the installation ceremony at the Buea council building, Governor Okalia Bilai noted that the Delegation of Public Contracts in the region has for the past one year been plagued with irregularities and failed principles. It was on this premise that he urged the incoming delegate to toil within the performance-based budget program to achieve the complete execution of projects earmarked within the public investment budget and those under the priority investment program as a way of making a modest contribution to the attainment of vision 2035.
“I urge you to work hard, very hard to reassure public opinion, service users and other programs within the sphere of public contracts” Okalia Bilai emphasized.
For his part, the incoming regional delegate Mr. Kati Alfred Njingti said he has come to put an end to all corrupt practices within the sector. He further posited that ‘the ground is level for everybody. I invite everyone who wanted to do contracts before, but withdrew because of corruption to start all over again.’
It is worth mentioning that Mr. Kati Alfred Njingti took over from Mr. Mbuwir Tobias Banbong who was installed on October 30, 2012 as the pioneer regional delegate of MINMAP for the South West Region. Taking over as second delegate of MINMAP in the region, Mr. Kati Alfred is a lecturer and an engineer.
This installation ceremony is said to be the upshot of presidential decree No. 117/2/4/2015 by which the head of state reckoned it necessary to instill new people into the reform of the public system in a bid to shun prolong malfunction.
