HRH Chief Daniel Mokambe Matta, 45, second class chief of
Mbonge Marumba has been officially installed as the new mayor of Mbonge council.
He was installed on Tuesday 19th April 2016 by the senior divisional officer
for Meme, David Koulbout Aman, at a ceremony that took place at the Mbonge
grandstand.
The SDO
exhorted the new mayor to ensure good working relationship with his
collaborators at the council, guarantee increase in the collection of council
revenue, organize regular clean-up campaigns to promote hygiene and sanitation
in the municipality, protect and safeguard council property and most
importantly to identify vital projects that can improve on the livelihood of
the population.
Moreover,
Koulbout Aman urged the new mayor to be humble, open-minded, creative,
hardworking and unrelenting.
He
seized the opportunity to applaud the first deputy mayor for his commendable
management of the council during the short period that he acted as interim
mayor. He urged the all the deputy mayors to ensure team spirit and respect for
hierarchy, so as to enable the new mayor to complete the mandate of his
predecessor.
Chief
Daniel Mokambe Matta Mokambe was born in 1971 at Mbonge Marumba. He attended
Government School Mbonge Marumba, CCAS Kumba, GHS Mundemba and PHS Kumba where
he passed his ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels in 1989 and 1991 respectively. He later
acquired a diploma in computer sciences and a BSc in Biology from the
University of Calabar, Nigeria. Upon returning to the country he was employed
at the Cameroon Development Cooperation (CDC) where he rose to the rank of
estate manager in Mbonge and Penda Mboko.
He was
elected the “Best Manager” manager of CDC in 2006 and in 2008 he was designated
the 2nd class chief of Mbonge Marumba.
In 2012
he was nominated vice president of Meme Chiefs Conference and financial
secretary of South West Chief Conference.
With
the experience he gained while working in CDC, he is today managing his private
rubber, cocoa, palms and coconut plantations. He is a devout Catholic and is
happily married with three children.
A
veritable son of the soil and three-time councilor of Mbonge council, Chief
Mokambe has pledged to continue with the good works of the former mayor, whom
he considers as his mentor.
The
installation ceremony was graced with traditional dances and choral singing.
