Renowned Buea-based medical practitioner and owner of the famous KahwaSumbele Medical Cabinet, Dr. IssabelleFeseKahwaSumbele has died in Buea. She died at her Buea home in the early hours of Wednesday 30 March 2016. She was aged above 70.
Her remains were taken to the Hope Rhema Hospital Mortuary in Kossala, Kumba, pending burial arrangements.
Popularly known in Buea as Dr. Kahwa, the reputed pediatrician and mortician was acknowledged to have saved the lives of sundry parents and children thanks to her unquestionable expertise and professionalism.

Upon retirement from the public service in the early 1990s, she created her private clinic; the KahwaSumbele Medical Cabinet at Bomaka quarters in Buea. The street where the clinic was located was later named after her: “Dr. Kahwa Street”.
Initially trained as a pediatrician in Nigeria, Dr. Isabelle KahwaSumbele later studied in the UK to become a mortician. She will be remembered not only as the doctor who made child delivery easy and almost painless for women in and around Buea but also as the one who demystified the science of embalming in the South West region. Many say if the Buea Hospital Mortuary easily became popular and highly demanded it was thanks in great part to the services rendered to cadavers by Dr. Kahwa.
