Mbonge elite craving for separate
division

Senator Otte Andrew Mofa |
The CPDM section president for Meme II,
Mbonge has said that Mbonge sub-division is too big to be a sub-division.
Senator Otte Andrew Mofa has therefore fired an appeal to government to
consider creating a separate and fully fledged division in Mbonge. He was
speaking during the Joint Section Conference of CPDM Meme II holding in
MbongeMarumba on Saturday 5 November 2016.
Addressing
the hugely attended conference, Senator Otte boasted that Mbonge is not only
the biggest sub-division in Cameroon in terms of land mass but also has one of
the biggest populations. Besides, Mbonge has the highest number of registered
voters (32.000) of all subdivisions in Cameroon. Mbonge’s voter registration
figures only compare with that of some regions of the country, Senator Otte
noted.
With
these figures he wondered why Mbonge cannot have a division of her own.
“Mbonge
needs a separate division in Cameroon,” Senator Otte cried out.
Programmed
to coincide with the 34th Anniversary of Biya’s Ascension to power, the joint
section conference provided a rare occasion for the recently reconciled
militants of the 48 subsections in CPDM Meme II Mbonge to commune with their
hierarchy.
Otte
explained that the recent reconciliation move championed by the new Meme CPDM
leader, Chief Justice Benjamin MutangaItoe, was aimed to appease disgruntled
militants following the disagreements that emanated from the November 2015
reorganization of the basic organs of the party. He opined that reconciliation
is an excellent idea because there can be no growth without challenges and no
change without criticism.
He
appealed to CPDM militants to register in the electoral registers and to
convince more persons to join their fold.
Enumerating
some of President Biya’s gifts to Mbonge, he cited notably 33 government
secondary schools, 88 gov’t primary schools, over 20 gov’t nursery schools and
the imminent tarring of the Kumba – Mbonge road. With all these, senator Otte called on the
Mbonge people to rally behind President Paul Biya.
He
urged militants of Mbonge CPDM to work hard and flush out the SDF parasites in
the Mbonge council. The CPDM presently
shares the Mbonge council with the SDF.
Also
addressing the conference, the Meme CPDM leader, Chief Justice Benjamin Itoe
put the thrust of his message on reconciliation, unity and solidarity, while
Special Adviser at the PM’s Office, Mrs. Bertha NdohBakata and honorable Bokwe
Samuel Ngoe presented papers on exemplary militancy.
Other
dignitaries at the conference included Hon. Atinda Martin Mboni, Justice Teddy
Mokwe, Alternate Senator Njikam Richard, Kumba Gov’t Delegate Victor NgohNkele,
Meme IA and IB section presidents Lawson BakiaTabot and Mbachu Jacob Kay and
youth wing presidents Andong Humphrey and McMillian Sako.
Traditional
dances animated the occasion.
