2018 Senatorial:

CPDM Accuses Elecam of ‘Miscalculation’ in NW
- Refuses To Sign Final “Procès-verbal”
Members of the regional polling commission of the CPDM in the North West for the 2018 Senatorial elections have reportedly refused to sign the final “Procès-verbal” of the elections in the region. They are contesting the victory of the Social Democratic Front, SDF who have swept all the seven senatorial seats in the region.
According to provisional results pending confirmation from the constitutional council, the SDF is leading with 517 votes against 496 for the CPDM. The SDF have a percentage of more than 50% which guarantees them the 7 seats in the region. According to statistics from ELECAM 1037 of the 1039 councillors in the region voted giving a participation rate of 99.81 percentages with two void votes.

The CPDM is contesting the formula used by Elections Cameroon to calculate the final results that gave the SDF an absolute majority.  According to the sources close to the Elecam regional office in the North West region, the final percentage was calculated without taking into account the invalid ballots and absentees, a formula which the SDF, UDP and UNDP ascribe to the reason why they signed the final “Procès-verbal”.
The CPDM however believes that the invalid ballots should be taken into account. By this calculation, the SDF is not suppose to have the absolute majority and thus will have to share the seats with the CPDM.
By this victory, the SDF seems to have gotten his revenge on the CPDM. During the 2013 senatorial elections, the first in the country, the CPDM won all seven seats in the North West with 516 votes, far from the SDF party that obtained 476 votes.
