Governor Fai Yengo |
The name of the former Governor of Littoral and Centre
features prominently in a leaked security cable containing names of 39 persons
barred from leaving the country.
Sources
say Fai Yengo is since being shadowed by agents of the security and he might be
roped in over allegations of corruption when he served as Board Chairman of the
Douala Autonomous Ports. The 63-year old is also the Board Chair of the Rural
Electrification Board.
Presently on retirement, Fai Yengo might not be at peace
with himself at this time that the Epervier (Sparrow-Hawk) is said to be
hovering over his roof.
Fai was
said to have impressed the head of state when he served successively as
Governor of Littoral and later of the Centre region. He was linked some time
ago with a possible move to the Star Building to replace Philemon Yang as Prime
Minister. But it appears the corruption allegation compromised his chances. And
Yang had to be allowed to stay on, despite his short-comings, some of which
were publicly denounced by his boss, President Biya.
The
leaked security cable that went viral on social media at the weekend has made
rubbish of a recent order by the Prime Minister warning government officials
from leaking classified, confidential, secret and top secret information to the
wider public. The leakage means Philemon Yang might have to go beyond just
issuing instructions to his supposed subordinates about the handling of
confidential information and messages.
Most of
the names in the leaked security message are former senior managers and
staffers of the Douala Autonomous Ports including former GM, Mounoume Jean
Marcel, Kamanke Mathurin, Mfou’ou Oyono Jean Pierre, Avebe Biyong Bulu, Djoko
Maurice, Nkomo Ngwa Jean Claude, Mva Jean Rene, Mangieb Agbor Abel, Ndenge
Jean, Fantino Bernard Pierre Elie, Farjon Michel, Nyemeck Moise, Bella Roger
and others.
One of
the suspects on the list, Bella Roger, is said to be a maternal uncle to First
Lady Chantal Biya.
Note
worthy is the fact that some of these persons had since succeeded to leave the
country notably former DG Mounoume Jean Marcel and former Director of Finance,
Mangieb Agbor Abel. The two succeeded to escape when an earlier security cable
talked of their imminent arrest.
Other
leaked cables also mention the names of former top personnel of the Housing
Loans Fund, Credit Foncier as waiting to be visited by Epervier. The name of
the former DG of CF, Camille Ekindi features prominent on the list.
Abel Agbor Mangieb was in Bethel Alaska in February where he obtained a job under false pretenses and was escorted off the premises when his lies were uncovered. He then went to Anchorage Alaska not sure if this is where he still is but he needs to go back to Cameroon and do the time he has been sentenced to. Please come get him
