Cameroonians in Australia Want Embassy Opened

Cameroonian community in Australia has urged the government of Cameroon to consider creating an Embassy or a Consulate in the Far Eastern country. They made the request to the Minister Delegate at the MINREX in charge of Commonwealth Affairs, Mbayu Felix.
This was during a meeting that the minister had with the Cameroonian diaspora in Australia, on the sidelines of the ongoing Commonwealth games hosted by the country of the Kangaroos.
Talking to CRTV after meeting with the Cameroonians in Australia, Felix Mbayu said the Diasporans expressed the wish for the government to create at least a Cameroon Consulate in Australia. They suggested that the city of Melbourne could host the Consulate because it has a large community of Cameroonians.
The Minister said Cameroonians in Australia also express their readiness to contribute to the development of their country even from their basis in Australia. He said some Cameroonian medical doctors said they were ready to visit the country from time to time to share their experience with doctors in the country.

The meeting was occasion for the Diaspora Cameroonians to distance themselves with the separatist rhetoric propagated by their colleagues in Europe and America. The Diasporans said those who are propagating messages of hate and divide are not in the majority. They assured the minister of their commitment to remain citizens of a one and indivisible Cameroon.
For his part, the Minister used the occasion to urge participants at the meeting to be Ambassadors of President Biya’s message of peace and harmonious living together of all Cameroonians in Cameroon and wherever they may find themselves.
