31% Execution Rate for PIB projects in Meme

This was revealed by the Divisional Delegate of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT, during the participatory follow up committee meeting

The Divisional Delegate of Economy Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT for Meme, Godlove Buinda has revealed that besides the about FCFA 540 million that was initially allocated for Meme Division in the state budget, an additional FCFA 193 million has been sent by the MINEPAT to finance five other priority projects.
    Buida made the revelation during the 2nd quarter of the Divisional participatory follow-up Committee meeting for the execution of public investment Budget for 2014 in Meme on July 8, 2014, at the Kumba City Council Hall.
    Presenting the PIB, the Delegate said the physical execution rate for projects in Meme stands at 31%, while the financial execution is 25.5%. He explained that out of the total of 67 projects earmarked for the Division, 25 projects have been completely executed, while some are still ongoing. Yet some others are still to be awarded to contractors.

    Mr. Buinda however appealed to those concerns to get more involved in the follow-up committee if they expect to achieve Governments’ vision of effective execution of projects.
    The Delegate also used the forum to draw the attention of committee members that a lady contractor, Mrs. Nnoko Mboh, has stopped work at her project site at the Kumba District Hospital.
He said that the FCFA 25 million project entails the construction of a security fence round the Hospital. The contractor is said to have escaped for his dear life requesting for security assistant before he can continue the job.
    On his part the vice chair of the follow up committee, Paul Makembe, urged contract officials, stakeholders and committee members to follow up their projects well. He urged all stake holders to attach more concern to the government projects making sure they are realized otherwise the development of the Division will be stalled.
    The 2nd Assistant SDO for Meme, Nelson Yongkuma, who also assisted in the meeting, urged contractors to execute their projects fully and on time. He called on vote holders, projects engineers and other stakeholders in the projects execution chain to put all hands on deck and ensure at least 90% realization of projects before the end of the financial year.
