Jean Paul Akono the former coach of the Indomitable Lions has been ill. He is gradually recovering but still needs special medical supervision in France.
Friday 11th July 2014 he prepared his baggage and left for France for his routine check-up and physical therapy as requested by his doctors.
In his travelling bag were 30000 Euros an equivalent of CFA 20 million francs, locked with a code which he thought was confidential.
Manuson, as he is fondly called by former fans arrived France only to discover that the money had vanished from the bag he thought was securely kept before he left Cameroon.
As sick and feeble as he is, the theft was like adding insult to injury. Jean Paul Akono decided to board the next plane back to Cameroon but his sister living in France deterred him.
In the meantime, Mrs Akono in Cameroon carried out immediate investigation and amongst the three suspects is Jean Paul Akono’s closest aid.
The Gendarmerie has begun investigation and the three suspects are currently detained at the Gendarmerie headquaters.
