Marafa hospitalised

The former minister of territorial administration, Marafa Hamidou Yaya was rushed to hospital last week, after he reportedly took seriously ill in his prison cell at the SED. The former close collaborator and ally of President Biya, was rushed to hospital on the night of Monday 30 June 2014 breaking Tuesday 1 July 2014, according to family sources.

    Marafa’s wife told the Radio France Internationale RFI, that her husband was in a critical condition and that she feared for his life. The tearful woman told reporters that her husband’s condition was so bad that he went into a comma. She said that her husband was suffering from a kidney disease.
    Mrs. Marafa then pleaded for help to save her husbands life, which she believes some people want to take.
    Marafa was given a 25-year jail sentence in February 2012 for corruption and embezzlement. He is one among top members of government like Polycarp Abah Abah and Urbain Olanguena Awono who were caught in president Biya’s dragnet to purge the government of corruption officials.
