The Oku community in Cameroon and in the Diaspora will on July 9th and December 15-20, 2016 converge in Oku to raise funds to finance development projects to better the lives of oku people.
This filtered from an enlarged extra ordinary executive meeting of the Oku cultural and development association, OCDA that brought together committee members recently in Bamenda.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, the president of OCDA, MrKeng Wilfred Nshom revealed that they are dreaming of raising over 60million Fcfa to be raised for feasible devt projects across Oku like the maintenance of schools, roads the Oku Fons palace plaza and some social amenities like health care units and water projects.
During this enlarged exco meeting that saw the participation of three ad-hoc standing committees like the fundraiser, projects and socio- cultural, it was also unanimously agreed that the fund raiser bonanza at the Oku Fons palace would take the form of a cultural jamboree to grease the traditional culture and heritage of this community come December 2016.

“All Oku sons and daughters must know that we all mean business and we must carry our weight now behind OCDA" he noted. While pinpointing accountability and transparency as the main pillars of his regime, Mr. Keng pledged to flush out fugitives and debtors keeping any assets of this association in the past.
Fearful of falling into the old habits of the past OCDA regimes, the new exco also underlined the creation of a bank account into which all donations and contributions for OCDA could be access by all and sundry for good transparency and accountability .
Fighting against the unforeseen in the near future or any future disappointments, Mr. Keng and his team also articulated broad Base strategists to get all sons and daughters of “mnkongmotehs” land involve in all OCDA upcoming events in 2016. This executive that is just three months in office has recorded some remarkable trappings like the legalization of the status of this organization with the administration since its many years of creation and the reinstitution of national OCDA financial receipt t easy donations and contributions to the Association.
It should be recalled that OCDA is the umbrella association for all socio cultural and development associations in the Oku fondon and this new exco has as task to reinvigorate a spirit of solidarity and accountability amongst the Okus for three years.
