The national school of administration and magistracy ENAM
on Wednesday 13-Friday 15 June 2018 organized an international seminar in Limbe
in the South West region, on the theme "post-crisis management of actors
and victims of terrorism.”
The
seminar holding at the Limbe city hall was aimed to enable ENAM students and
political science students of the University of Buea acquire skills on peace
preservation, unity, national integration and patriotism.
The
minister of public service and administrative reforms, Joseph Le, congratulated
the director general of ENAM, Linus Toussaint Mendjena and his staff for the
choice of the theme. He said the seminar will be of great impact taking into
consideration the serious security issues plaguing the country.
Minister
Le said the seminar is also vital in that it will educate the authors of
terrorism and victims to live together despite what happened.
"Separatists
who want to divide our beloved nation have created security issues of constant
attacks, abduction amongst others. In the face of the violence, the army have
luckily responded appropriately without destroying the national territory
thanks to seminars like this," said minister Le.
He went
further to tell the ENAM students that they have an important role to play in
defending the country and look for possible solutions to the problems facing
the country lies in their hands.
In his
welcome speech, the government delegate to Limbe, Andrew Motanga, applauded the
initiative of the DG of ENAM for choosing such an important topic for the
seminar. He said the seminar is very important because it envisages mechanisms
to handle consequences of war.
Motanga
expressed joy for the choice of Limbe to host the seminar. He said it will help
boost the city's image.
On his
part, the DG of ENAM said the seminar is timely because terrorism is on the
rise in the country, with the Boko Haram insurgency in the Far North and the
violence in NW and SW regions.
Linus
Toussaint said the government is conscious that ENAM students being the future
administrators of the country, they will be involved in handling cases that
have to do with terrorism, insecurity amongst others.
Attended
by 150 ENAM students, 50 from UB, 20 international experts on terrorism and war
and 50 administrative staff saw presentations on different topics related to
the theme.
Other
activities during the 3-day seminar was the signing of a partnership between
ENAM and IFTIC SUP as well as ENAM and IRIC. The agreements will permit for
exchange of experiences through the training of human resources and the
promotion of scientific and technical expertise.
The
Limbe international seminar comes after the one held in Gauora in 2016.
