Amba fighters have resorted to targeted kidnappings
Kidnapping of elements of security forces and other civilians has continued to inundate the Kumba-Buea highway. The latest of such is the kidnapping of the Special Branch Police Commissioner of Kumba II Sub-Division.
Ngong James was kidnapped early last week as ‘Ambazonia’ separatist fighters mounted road blocks along the highway. News of his kidnapped spread like bushfire on Tuesday June 19, 2018allong the security corridors in Kumba. A security source revealed to this reporter that the commissioner was kidnapped around the locality of Mbalangi and Bombe Bakundu in the Buea road axis of Mbonge Sub-Division.
Our source revealed he was returning fromFako Division after spending the weekend with his family. Ngong James was caught up in the road block mounted by ‘Amba’ forces among hundreds of other passengers. It is revealed he was amongst other passengers who defied the road block to trek several kilometres all in an attempt to get to Kumba.

We gathered that it was in the course of trekking that he was spotted and identified by one of the gunmen and taken to an unknown destination. As at press time, no official confirmation was made by the police hierarchy in Meme concerning the kidnapped commissioner.
Reports we couldn’t independently confirm indicated that Ngong’s wife proposed ransom of FCFA 500, 000 to her husband’s abductors but the money is been rejected. Reports still to be confirmed also said the kidnapped commissioner is undergoing serious torture in the hands of his kidnappers.
If confirmed, Ngong will be the second commissioner of special branch to be kidnapped in Meme Division. One month ago, a senior special branch police officer, Ekidi Ewang Christopher was kidnapped in Konye. Ekidi was released one week after and this was after he reportedly paid a ransom of FCFA 500, 000.
