-Hundreds of Teke villagers flee to Kumba as military
engage battle with Amba gunmen

Work has been brought to a halt at the CDC robber factory
in Laduma, Kumba III Sub-Division in Meme Division. This was after some unknown
gunmen attacked the factory chasing away the workers. Concordant reports said
some properties including cars were destroyed.
This
happened barely a week after serious confrontations were recorded in Malende
and Laduma, between the military and gunmen believed to be elements of the
Ambazonia restoration forces on Thursday 7 June 2018. The gun battle led to the
death of one uniform officer.
Villagers flee as houses are burnt in Teke near Kumba
Hundreds
of villagers from Teke, a village located in Kumba III Sub-Division along the
Kumba-Tombel road have fled their homes following serious gun battles between
government forces and the ‘Ambazonia’ gunmen.
The
fleeing men, women, mothers carrying new born babies, grandmothers, children
have flooded the streets and churches around the Fiango Three corners and
Mambanda quarters in Kumba.
Arriving
in swoops, in the morning of Monday 11 June 2018, the refugees said they were
fleeing for their lives as soldiers had stormed the village and were burning
houses and exchanging gunshots with Amba fighters.
We
gathered that a microfinance institution in the village was also attacked and
its doors forced open.
Teke
village on the outskirts of Kumba has been one of the hottest zones in the
current crisis. Most of its residents have fled to safer localities.
