Court registrars want better status

By Eddy Bokuba in Kumba
The president of the South West Court Registrars Association, (S.O.W.E.R.C.A) chief Samuel Forbi, has appealed to the minister of justice and keeper of the seals, Laurent Esso, to sign the text of application that would enable court registrars to enjoy the benefits provided in the 2010 decree creating a new status for court registrars.

Forbi Samuel, South West court  registrars’ president

Forbi made the appeal during a two-day general assembly of S.O.W.E.R.C.A holding at the Meme High court Kumba premises recently.
According to Forbi, the National syndicate pressurized and lobbied the government to get a decision signed relating to the benefits of those serving in the court registry corps in 2010. What is left now, Forbi said is for a text of application to be signed for the decree to be implemented. He therefore appealed to the minister of justice to look into the situation and urgently too.
Situating the importance of a registrar in the judiciary chain, the registrar-in-chief at the court of first instance Kumba noted that, court registrars are at the fore-front of court proceedings.
He said the kumba conclave was aimed at enabling the members to find common ground about the practice of their profession and to harmonize and strengthen issues related to ethics and professionalism.
