Samuel
Eto’o, making it big in football
Cameroonian born
Chelsea striker, Samuel Eto’o came in at the third position in goal.com’s top
richest footballers’ list for the year 2014. The richest African footballer’s
wealth was estimated at 85 million Euros, that is a circa FCFA 55,756,345,000
billion.
According to goal.com, the short
but highly lucrative spell with Anzhi – which included the practice of flying
to Russia from Paris for training and then on to Dagestan for home games – has
firmly established him at the top end of the Goal Rich List?
Eto’o retains a €5m a year
sponsorship package with PUMA, as well as deals with Ford and fashion label
John Richmond.
Among his investments, the
33-year-old boasts a collection of stunning cars worth a total of around €5m,
including a Bugatti Veyron, two Aston Martins and a MaybachXenatec.
It should be noted that Eto’o
had hit the headlines in 2009 when he bought each of his national team-mates a
€33,000 (£29,000) watch with a personal inscription after they qualified for
the World Cup.
In another development, Samuel
Eto’o has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet and has hinted he may
extend his stay at Chelsea beyond this season.
