The celebrations come as a traditional practice under the theme “CPDM 30 years at the service of Cameroon and still promoting peace, unity, democracy and progress” bearing in mind that the CPDM has been in power since its creation, and have function in three major sub wings, the YCPDM for the youths, the WCPDM for the women and the CPDM for the men.
As part of activities to mark the party’s 30th anniversary, the Vice president of the National Assembly honourable Emilia Lifaka, presented the message of the secretary general of the party Jean kuete, which focused on the achievements of the ruling party besides its challenges and let-downs.
There was the recurrence of the issues of peace in her presentation viz-a-viz the security challenges facing the country in the boarders, especially in the northern part of Cameroon.
The celebrations therefore gave an opportunity to the secretary general of the party to congratulate their moral and financial support towards supporting the government fight the Boko Haram.
For his part, the president of the Fako III section, Senator Mbella Moki Charles, reiterated the security challenge facing the nation and the party, highlighting the successes of the party in ensuring constant peace for 30 years running; assuring political leadership, national integration and democracy.
Amidst the success heralded, many commentators expressed a contrary opinion, saying that 30 years of the CPDM have been marked by failure in almost all facets of national life with embezzlement of public funds, favouritism, tribalism, abuse of human rights etc being the order of the day.
The president of the WCPDM, Fako III Section, called on the women to support the government towards its developmental projects and remain the good mothers they are to the society. The mothers were reminded of the increase in the number of health centres, which assist them in emergency situations.
The youth wing president, Motomby Mbome Emmanuel, used the opportunity to hail the efforts of the youths who are fighting to defend the state in the northern part of Cameroon.
