Eto’o prescribes severe sanctions against racism

Samuel Eto’o has called for stricter punishment to combat racism in football in light of the recent public abuse from Chelsea fans towards a man in Paris. The declaration also comes after Eto’o was honoured with Tolerance Award.
According to media reports, a group of fans were seen preventing a 33-year-old Parisian access to a Paris Metro train in February before pushing him back onto the platform while the group sang racially charged songs.
Speaking Le Parisien newspaper, former Lions captain said he was shocked and did not understand why hatred is curling so fast into football.

He added that during his stay in England he had no problems with fans and that Justice must be severe to ensure that this does not happen again.
Eto’o further said love needs to be at the center and that much work still needs be done in other to push the worm away.
Eto’o experienced racism while playing in Spain for Barcelona, notably threatening to walk off the pitch after Real Zaragoza supporters directed monkey noises at him when in possession of the ball.
The call from the Sampdoria striker comes days after receiving the Medal of Tolerance (anti-racism award) from the European Council at a Tolerance and reconciliation gala dinner in London’s Kensington Palace, the home of Britain’s Prince William and his wife Kate.
