SW soccer league to resume amidst huddles

Unless a regional representative is appointed by the normalization committee, the South West regional league will not be launched. This was top on the agenda of a meeting held Tuesday March 17 at the South West bureau of Fecafoot in Buea, chaired by the Regional Administrative Officer, Divine Namanga Lingondo.
    The extra-ordinary meeting authorized by a communiqué signed by normalization committee head, Prof. Joseph Owona, drew 14 club representatives and presidents, mongering the way forward after the launch of the South West regional league had been punctured by a decision suspending all current regional executives of Fecafoot nationwide. The clubs in attendance included Little Foot, Prisons Buea, Victoria United, Cinyodev FC, Tiko United, EEMSA and Best Stars just to name but these.
    Apart from aimlessly awaiting a ‘Messiah’ to come and save local clubs from unbudgeted expenses and heartbreak, club presidents were told to produce player licences for the 2014-2015 football season without which the start of the league will continue to be a thing few and far between. Hence, Mr. Lingondo accentuated that 5th of April is deadline for licence production by the federation.
    “I am promising you people, I am sure that a regional representative will be appointed to come and co-ordinate the league anytime soon”, Mr. Lingondo rattled.

    South West regional league-related activities have been locked in a deadlock since a communiqué dispossessing regional executives instructed Regional President, Senator Mbella Moki Charles, Interim S.G. Besong Thomas Makia and co, to desert the federation’s cubicle and spiral into silence.
    Quipped on the event, Mr. Njoku Barnabas representing Buea United said it was a timely intervention by Fecafoot and praised the chair, Mr. Lingondo, for clarifications on licences.
    Mr. Ikome Williams Lifange, president of Prisons Buea also saluted the meeting, saying that it had come to rescue them from nerving spheres of speculation.
    However, the problems plaguing football in the region are far from being solved owing to attempts by key actors to bring in clubs from nowhere into the South West league this season. According to the president of club presidents’ forum, Mr. Nouck Protus, the normalization committee had annulled the third divisional league last season. No third divisional league took place last season reason for which they wouldn’t sit, fold their arms and watch Ajax Likomba, Catholic University Football Academy, Mamu United and Legend Football Academy ambush and sub standardize their hard-earned league. “It’s illegal and there is nothing to dispute about it”, Mr. Nouck purred.
    It should be recalled that the 7th November 2014 regional Fecafoot elections triggered manipulations and recognition of ghost football clubs like Botafogo FC in order to secure votes. Football lovers in the region thought that election dust would settle in 2015 for a new vision.
    In all, the seed of discord seems as tortuous as the roots of an iroko. Critics say if these illegal clubs are given a chance in the regional league, then key actors will still smell the same after having washed themselves.
