Some over 30 teachers drawn from different
schools in Kumba have been awarded certificates of excellence for their
tireless efforts in the exercise of their duties by their various divisional
delegations here in Kumba. The over 30 laureates were drawn from the basic
eduaction, secondary and the employment and vocational training delegations in
Kumba. While handing over the certificates of excellence to the various
recipients, the divisional delegates called on them not to relent their efforts
as well as challenged the other teachers to work hard in order for their
services to be rewarded.
While
addressing the teachers and the administrators of Meme in the commemoration of
the 23rd edition of the international teacher’s day under the theme “Valuing
teachers, improving their status” the divisional delegate of basic education,
AsongSabasAkemAsong declared there can’t be any achievement in sustainable
development in the country without the involvement of teachers.
According
to the basic education DD, the theme of this year’s teacher’s day gives
recognition to the relentless efforts of the teacher’s in the society and
therefore ties with the need to uplift and improve the status of the teachers
in the country. He adds teachers are
liberators, liberating the society from ignorance as well as candles that burn
the light for others.
Mr.
AsongSabas also made mention of the fact that the prevailing economic situation
has drag the position of the teachers to the mug and however challenged his
colleagues to be patient as he believes the best is yet to come for the
teachers.
On
his path in an academic discuss titled “The teacher a master or a servant”, the
divisional delegate of secondary education Mr. Akwo John Eyoh drew the
attention of the teachers to reflect on the role of a teacher in the society.
He elaborated on the fact that a teacher is a master servant in a society and
as such torch bearers of development in our economy.
The
activities here was presided over by the second assistant senior divisional
officer of Meme, EpolewaneVerklinMbua in which she called on the teachers to be
able to adapt to ever changing world and know how to gather information to
disseminate in the classrooms. She equally advised the teachers not just to
celebrate but to take stoke of their activities and see how they can improve
services where need arises.
The
celebration was marked by three sporting activities from teachers of basic
education family, singing and the official match pass of the teachers from
their various schools.
