Embattled Atanga Nji Boasts of ‘Calm’ Amidst Killings

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji
Paul has described the North West region as very calm and has encouraged
“terrorists and armed robbers” in bushes whom he also referred to as “prodigal
children” to lay down their weapons and report themselves to the closest
security post for “justice to take its course”.
He was
speaking to reporters in Bamenda after a security meeting on the instructions
of the Head of State, with NW Governor, SDOs, DOs and security officials to
evaluate the security situation in the region.
“Globally
I can tell you that the situation is under control. The Governor and the
administrative authorities are doing a wonderful job and the Head of State told
me to extend his encouragements to the forces of law and order and
administrative authorities who have done everything despite the odds to
maintain calm and a serene atmosphere in the region” he said.
Atanga Nji boasted that the “pockets of resistance” in
the Regions will soon be “neutralized” and that the “terrorists and armed
robbers” who have been causing havoc with “hunting guns” cannot stand the state
security which has so far been “very professional” in the discharge of their
duties.
While
frowning at the attack on military personnel and on administrative buildings
like DOs offices in Bafut and Bali, the Minister revealed that the Head of
State had made a special allocation for the renovate the burnt buildings in all divisions in the
North West and South West regions.
On the
upcoming October 8 presidential elections, the MINAT boss was emphatic that
despite threats, the elections will hold.
While
thanking the military on behalf of the Head of state for their strides in
maintaining law and order so far, he challenged them to accompany Elections
Cameroon, ELECAM to ensure a hitch free organization and conduct of elections
in the region.
On back
to School, Minister Nji Paul urged parents to tell their children in bushes to
come out because “they have to be in schools not bushes.”
