Muslims sacrifice at least a ram on Tabaski |
Muslims in Limbe have been urged to unite for positive
change in Cameroon by going to the polls on 7 October 2018 for the presidential
election.
The call
was made by the Imam of the Limbe Central Mosque, Muatapha Muhammad, as he led
the prayers marking the celebration of the feast of sacrifice also known as the
Tabaski.
Hundreds
of Muslims gathered at the mosque at New Town and at the community field to
celebrate the feast which highlights the humility and faith of Ibrahim in
obeying Allah by sacrificing his only son, Ismail.
At the
the Limbe Central Mosque No 2, the imam, Kouotou Issah, hinged his prayer on
peace and nation building. He prayed for peace and stability in Cameroon,
especially at this time when the country is facing serious security challenges.
Imam
Koutou used the occasion to call on parents to send their children to school
come September.
He urged
Muslim faithful to uphold peace, faith and unity like Ibrahim who was ready to
give his all for the sake of Allah.
On his
part, Chief Moussande Ahmadou, chief of the Bamoun community in Limbe, joined
his voice with others to call on Muslims to pray particularly for peace and an
end to the crisis rocking the Anglophone regions and the Boko Haram insurgency.
He
reminded his brethren that they are children of Allah and should be united at
all times.
All the
prayers at the different prayer grounds culminated in the slaughtering of a ram
by the imams to symbolize how Ibrahim sacrificed his only son Ismail. The Imams
enjoined the faithful to go home and do same and to share the ram slaughtered
with family members, friends and the needy.
The
prayers in Limbe were witnessed by the administrative hierarchy of the SW region
led by the Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai.
The G.M
of SONARA, Ibrahim Talba Malla, offered a special dinner in honour of the SW
Governor, the SDO of Fako, Engamba Emmanuel Ledoux and other administrative and
political dignitaries in Fako.
