Ngeme & Limbe Camp Emerge As Champions

The 10th and 7th edition of the Limbe city council inter quarter football tournament in the male and female categories respectively came to an end on Saturday, 1st September 2018, with the boys from Ngeme New-Layout defeating their counterparts of Bota Port FC 5-4 after post match penalties to emerge as the champions in the male category. In the female category, Limbe Camp girls beat the Queens from Bimbia 4-3, also after post match penalties, to lift the girls’ trophy. Both matches had ended on a goalless draw, after regular playing time.
            Added to the coveted trophy, the Ngeme new layout boys received the sum of fcfa 1 million and an extra fcfa 150,000 offered by les Brasseries du Cameroon. The runners up, Bota Port FC went home with fcfa 750,000, while the third placed team, Crystal Gardens, got fcfa 350,000.
            For the female category, the winners bagged a sum of fcfa 650,000 apart from the trophy. The runners up, Queen of Bimbia, got fcfa 350,000.
            The man of the match award went to Ewane Stephen of Ngeme new layout, while the highest goal scorer was Amouda Mara also from Ngeme new layout.
            The finals were presided over by the minister of youth affairs and civic education, Mounouna Foutsou, at the Limbe Centenary Stadium.

            The football finals coincided with the ceremonies to mark the end of the 3rd edition of the "2018 civic and patriotic school and university holidays operation" and the launching of the funding of the three years special youths plan.
            The two finals kept the over 2000 spectators excited and at the same time in suspense. Spectators were left on the edges of their seats for all throughout the playing time.
            The Manager of Ngeme new layout, Njufack Thomas, described their journey to the finals as one full of passion, determination, Support and hard work from both the players and the supporters. 
            Players of Port FC said the tournament was interesting and well organized. They conceded defeat, saying that Ngeme had the best team and deserved to be the champions.

Minister Mounouna applauded the Government Delegate of Limbe, Andrew Motanga Monjimba, for the wonderful initiative that kept the youths busy during the holidays and also helped to discover new talents. He said the life of a child is not at home or the bush but in school.
            The youth affairs minister used the opportunity to call on youths to make sure they get education so as to empower themselves.
            He said such holiday activities are very important because they prevent youths from engaging in delinquent acts like stealing, drug abuse and prostitution.
            In his welcome address, the GD of LCC this "New Look" edition of the tourney has sealed the competition as one of the indelible legacies of LCC. He congratulated the organizing committee for the hard work and expertise in organizing the tournament for the past two months.
            Motanga Mojimba boasted that the Limbe City inter-quarter tourney, just like the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture, Festac, are eloquent testimonies of the spirit of living together in the municipality.
            He thanked the head of state for upgrading sporting infrastructures in Limbe, as well as for choosing Limbe to co-host the 2019 AFCON.
            The GD used the opportunity to congratulate Victoria Untied alias Opopo for doing the city proud by winning the Southwest Regional Football League. He handed a cheque of fcfa 5 million to the players.
            Andrew Motanga used the occasion to also call on parents to send their children to school, saying the government has guaranteed security of persons during schools reopening.
            The Limbe GD equally called on the Limbe population to exercise their civic responsibility by voting wisely come 7 October.
