The Secretary of State in Charge of the National Gendarmerie, Yves Landry Etoga Galax, on Tuesday, January 15, visited Bamenda in the North West Region to deliver President Biya’s message of encouragement to wounded soldiers. He arrived in Bamenda under tight military conduit.
Etoga Galax made field visits to some parts of the city to get on-the-spot appraisal of the working environment of the security forces.
At the different health facilities where wounded soldiers are responding to treatment, the Gendarmerie boss extended the message of comfort from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Besides the soothing Presidential message, Landry Etoga offered financial support to the soldiers visited.
Within the same day, the senior state official held a meeting with Governor of the North West Region, Adolf LeleL’Afrique. Besides, the Secretary of State held meetings with the security top-notch of the Region and the rank and file.

He encouraged the soldiers in their mission to restore peace and security in the Regions, calling for professionalism and tact.
Etoga’s convoy drove through Bamenda under high security alert. In some laps of his tour, armoured cars in full combat gear were part  of the  military artillery that ensured the visit was a success.
He left Bamenda same day for a similar visit in Bafoussam, West Region. Here Governor Augustine Awa Funka was on hand to receive the Secretary of State at nightfall.
The Bafoussam lap of the visit queued in similar nature like the previous in the South West and North West Regions. The field visits are the first for the Gendamerie boss since his appointment on March 2, 2018.
Like in the South West wherein an attack on public transport vehicles resulted in the kidnap of at least 36 passengers along the Kumba-Buea Highway a day after the visit, in Bamenda, at least 20 workers of a private construction Firm, Egbe Construction were reportedly abducted in Mankon.
