Investor Loses Two Caterpillars in Arson Attack
Road construction equipment worth millions belonging to the
Section President of the Dunga-Mantung I of President Biya’s Cameroon People’s
Democratic Movement (CPDM) party, Monday breaking Tuesday, January 22, 2019
went up in flames.
The
equipment belonging to Gerald Ngala comprising of a grader and a compactor were
only discovered in the morning destroyed by fire.
Given
the unstable atmosphere in the two English-speaking Regions, the incident is
suspected to be the handiwork of separatists’ fighters.
The
equipment were being used for works on the Mbot-Tabenken-Nkambe road axis,
which Ngala’s company had been awarded the contract to fix.
Remains
of the road equipment show the caterpillar and compactor burnt with only the
carcasses left.
Ngala
is a vocal supporter of the Biya regime and a philanthropist in his Division of
origin. The attack on his investment is unconnected to his political choices
and the current armed conflict in Cameroon.
He owns
businesses in the economic city of Douala.
Targeted
burnings on the investments of business persons and politicians are one of the
ugly scenes that have marked the armed conflict in the North West and South
West Regions.
