Belated Condolence Message

Biya honours late Namata Elangwe
By Eddy Bokuba in Kumba

At-last the Head of State, Paul Biya and his wife Chantal Biya have extended their sincere words of condolence to the family of the late Tata Okiah wa Bakundu, Henry Namata Elangwe, the Board Chair of the Cameroon Development Corporation (C.D.C) and Paramount Ruler of the Bakundus who died on 5 March 2014.
The president’s condolence message was read at P.C Mile one, Kake by President Biya's Special Envoy, Professor Peter Agbor Tabi, and Deputy Secretary General at the Presidency, who delivered the message to the congregation of the church where the departed Statesman worshiped prior to his demise.

H.R.M, Namata Elangwe was buried few days after his death in respect of the traditions and customs of the Bakundu people, The State could not take active part in the funeral because of Tatah Namata’s status as Paramount Chief.
It is for this reason that the State had to organize a memorial service in honour of the departed senior citizen.
Unveiling the condolence message, Professor Peter Agbor Tabi read thus: ''My wife and I are saddened of the message of the death of your husband. I knew him too well. He was one of the Reunification icons. Indeed his death is a great loss to the Bakundu people, the South West region and the entire nation. Please madam in a moment like this you and your family have to bear with us by taking heart.
Prior to the reading of the message, Professor Agbor Tabi said he was highly honored by President Biya to deliver his sealed message on Easter Sunday. He said Namata Elangwe like Christ rose from death on Easter day to demonstrate his peculiarity not only as a Statesman, Politician, Board Chairman, Father, but also as a spiritual leader. Agbor Tabi said H.R.M Namata Elangwe represents a truism to the younger generation of Politicians since he was not the type that would engage in destroying others. He told the congregation he was happy the Late Chief Namata Elangwe ended as a Christian.
Taking the queue, the very Rev, Dr  Nyansako Ni-Nku who took his sermon from the book of 1st Thessalonian 4;15-18  urged Christians to make life since Christianity is a Religion of faith and hope. He said in Christianity it is right for the heavenly trumpets to sound when a good man dies. He noted that death of a Christian is a home-coming of glory especially on a day of resurrection like this. He added that H.R.M Namata Elangwe lived a fulfilled life which could be seen in his profile as a Pharmacist, Politician, Statesman and above all a Father.
