Chief Justice Paul Ayah Abine, Cameroon Supreme Court Judge has openly castigated the Senior Divisional Officer of the Mifi in the West Region, Tangwa Joseph Fover for prohibiting the sale, distribution and playing of a musical tract titled "Coller la Petite" by a cameroonian musician popularly known as Franco.
In a prefectoral order No 689/DP/F35/SAAJP of Nov 2, 2015, Tangwa Joseph Fover intimimated that the move was to ensure the fight against the deprivation of minors and maintenance of public order.
“I have just watched for the first time ever the “official video” of the famous “Coller la Petite”! I must confess that I found nothing in the wording as offensive as some other Camerounese vulgar records; let alone any more offensive. Nor was the pornography up to what one watches on CRTV or anywhere else in Cameroun. But others have hastened to support the Mifi SDO on the pretext that we must protect public morals," wrote Ayah Paul Abine on his facebook page.
"We all are concerned with the decadence of public morals today. But we can only fight it in an international coordinated manner. Facetious targeted parochial moves like the one of Mr. Prefect are counter-productive and doomed to fail. For instance, many are those who never heard about “Coller la Petite”. Mr. Prefect has now made it much more popular than eru and fufu-corn..." he added.
