Cameroon celebrates Fifa President Issa Hayatou

Cameroon has celebrated one of its illustrious sons, Issa Hayatou an icon of African football management who on October 8 was appointed by the Ethics Committee as Fifa Interim President.
    A ceremony in honour of Hayatou held in Yaounde on Monday November 2 at the Warda Sports Complex. Organized by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, the occasion was marked by eulogies in terse speeches.
    While former Indomitable Lions captain Tataw Stephen opened the way of praises on Hayatou, saying his contribution led to the increase in the number of African representatives at the World Cup to five and the development of sports infrastructure in Africa. He described Hayatou as a real Indomitable Lion of football management.
    Tombi A Roko Sidiki praised Hayatou for his shrewd management and the increase of financial benefits to football federations, while Fomum Victorine football coach, testified Hayatou’s impetus in the development of women’s football.

    Roving Ambassador Roger Milla described Hayatou as a model inspiring youths and generations to come fondly recalling the days with Hayatou as secretary general of Fecafoot.
    For the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoum Mpwatt, Hayatou is the first African to ascend to the prestigious post of FIFA president, a promotion which has added the number of laureates for Cameroon.
    Hayatou on the occasion thanked the government for the homage saying he felt at home. He urged government to put up a quality organization of the 2016 African Women Championship and the 2019 African Nations Cup and come up with good performance.
    A gala night spiced the day with musicians in display. Hayatou was equally received at home in Garoua on Wednesday November 4.
