2018 state budget:

Over 34bn allocated for NW region
Stakeholders involved in the execution of the state budget in the NW region have been warned to eschew all forms of corrupt practices and ensure the completion of all PIB projects. The call was made at a ceremony to launch the state budget in the region recently.
It emerged from the ceremony that the sum of over 34 billion Fcfa had been allocated for the region for 2018.
Presiding over the launching ceremony, Governor Adolphe Lele L’Afrique called for fairness and honesty from stakeholders concerned with the execution of the budget. He enjoined them to ensure quality expenditure.
For his part, the representative of the MINFI to the launching noted that the package for the NW had witnessed an increase this year and it comes with certain innovations.
“The 2018 budget is predicated on three essential axis notably: massive mobilization of revenue; ensuring budgetary discipline through quality expenditure and ensuring that the internal debt remains sustainable,” the MINFI representative underscored.

Meanwhile, the NW taxation boss, Fonyuy Fidelis, used the occasion to highlight the innovations in taxation procedures which innovations he said are aimed to ameliorate services to taxpayers and also boost revenue collection. Fonyuy mentioned innovations such as the auto and online declaration of taxes by taxpayers, payments through bank transfers and not in cash at taxation cash counters etc.
For his part, the NW delegate of Public Contracts used the occasion to point out lapses in the execution of projects last year. He said the programing, advertising and award of contracts did not respect deadlines and this only led to contractors not completing their jobs.
In the main, all the stakeholders were unanimous that for an adequate execution of the state budget, there must be continuous monitoring and follow-up of actors.
