Ahead of the arrival of the CAF inspection team to the country on Thursday 11 January, the Governor of the SWR has said the SW regional organizing committee is ready to welcome the guests.
Bernard Okalia Bilai made the disclosure after touring the various facilities to host the tournament in the region.
According to the Governor, it is high time the various committees tasked to ensure a smooth hosting of matches in the region wake up from their sleep and get to work.
“The last time we hosted a competition of this magnitude was in 2016 during the Female AFCON and we all know it was a success in the region. We should do everything therefore to make sure that the 2019 AFCON is a success,” Okalia said.

After a brief in-camera meeting with members of the regional organizing committee, the Governor and members visited some facilities in Buea and Limbe including the Buea town stadium, Molyko stadium, Limbe Omnisports Stadium, Centenary Stadium, Bota Stadium, hotels and other facilities which the CAF inspection team is expected to visit.
The CAF inspection team will be in Yaounde from January 12 to 13 to inspect the various installations. From 14 to 15 January they will be in Garoua; 16 to 17 in Bafoussam; 18 to 19 in Douala; 20 to 21 in Limbe/Buea and 23 at the CAF excellence center in Mbankomo.
The 2019 AFCON which is expected to be hosted by Cameroon will for the first time witness a 24 Nation team-up from 16. The competition which was usually scheduled to take place in January/February will now hold in June/July.
