Laying of foundation stone for All Africa University in Meveo |
A team of missionaries from the United States of America and other African Countries were recently in Meveo me Mbenge village in Limbe I sub division to lay the foundation stone for an International University to be constructed on Meveo Soil.
The Missionary from America Rev Dr. Paul Light presented the University project to the population and the vision of the University. Amongst other revelations he noted that since it is an All African University, there are plans to construct a run way for small aircrafts to land with foreign students and take-off to other partnering universities out of Meveo.
According to him the building plan is U-Shaped, two wings and the main building in the middle joining the two wings.
“Each wing will be about 250 feet long and the main building about 350 feet long, the building will have a 5 foot walk way completely around the building.”
Quizzed on how much this project will cost them, Rev Dr. Paul A Light said officially it will cost 400,000 USD (more than 200 million frs) but they anticipated that most of the Labour will be donated.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Meveo Me Mbenge, His Royal Highness Chief Ndiko Henry Fonderson told Rev Dr. Paul A. Light that the people of Meveo have asked him to assure him of their total collaboration towards their common objective. Chief Fonderson equally expects his partners to continue collaborating and participating in the realization of the village development projects such as electrification, water supply, road construction and maintenance.
Another traditional ruler, HRH Chief Epupa Samuel Ekum of Dikolo Bimbia said: “Development has come to Meveo; when you have a University in your village you are sure that development is not far from your doorsteps”.
It was disclosed that Chief Fonderson’s development stride is a blend of infrastructure, health, education and cultural dynamics. In just one month the village has played host to a series of major events and will in the coming days also play host to what has been described as the biggest cultural festival organized in a Limbe Village community, the Meveo Cultural and Development Cultural Association Festival.
He has been able to rally the non-indigenous farmers leaving in the village into a farmers’ association registered by the state and installed by the administration of Fako. His former traditional council was dissolved and a new and refined traditional council appointed and installed by the Divisional Officer of Limbe I, Epalle Seraphin.
Meanwhile, over 110 people benefited from a free malaria screening exercise that took place last Saturday January 16 2016 at the village square in Meveo Me Mbenge.
The initiator of this project, a Non-Governmental Organization, Drive against Malaria Foundation carried out free-screening, treatment and distribution of treated mosquito bed nets to all who answered present for the exercise
According to the operational director of Drive against Malaria Dr. Julia Samuel the reason behind this move is to set up malaria program and testing for the whole community with anti-malaria drugs and treated mosquito nets made available to the whole population for prevention.
